Women's Ice Hockey Knocked Off by Nichols

CANTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team fell by a final score of 3-1 to Nichols College Friday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Canton Ice House.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 3-17-1 overall on the season and 1-12-1 in the CCC.

Nichols scored the only goal of the first period at the 3:26 mark. Megan Buxton beat the Curry netminder shortside as she streaked down the left wing, with Grace Wiggett and Jordyn McGuire earning assists.

Just 14 seconds into the second period, Curry evened the score on the first collegiate goal from freshman Kenzie Fogarty (Roseville, Calif.). The power play marker came off assists from classmates Hannah Berkowitz (Mattawan, Mich.) and Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan).

The game remained tied at one until midway through the third, when a Katherine Segalla point shot had eyes and gave the Bison a 2-1 lead. Just under six minutes later, Buxton netted an insurance marker for her second of the game, giving the game its final score of 3-1.

Rookie goaltender Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) looked sharp despite the loss, turning away 42 shots in the defeat.

Curry will be back in action with a 7 p.m. puck drop on the road at the University of New England on Saturday evening.
