Women's Ice Hockey Shut Out by UNE

CANTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team was shut out 5-0 by the University of New England Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Canton Ice House.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 3-13-0 overall on the season and 1-9-0 in the CCC.

The Nor'easters opened the scoring midway through the opening period when Piper Desorcie found the back of the net on a one-timer from the right faceoff circle to make the score 1-0.

Desorcie was far from over, as she jumped on a McKenna Remillard rebound and doubled UNE's lead early in the second period. The goal would hold up as the second period's only tally.

Three and a half minutes into the third, Desorcie completed the natural hat trick to extend the visitors' lead to 3-0. Carolyn Curley and Keely Kasputis notched goals in the final minute of the contest to put the finishing touches on the 5-0 victory.

Curry freshman netminder Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) made 31 saves, including 16 in the third period, in the effort, and drops to 3-9-0 overall on the season.

Curry will return to the ice against Salve Regina University for three game next week, starting on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Canton Ice House.
