Women's Ice Hockey Outdueled by Lancers

CANTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team suffered a 9-1 defeat at the hands of Worcester State University Tuesday evening in non-conference action at the Canton Ice House.

With the loss, Curry drops to 3-11-0 overall on the season.

Worcester State found the net five times in the first period to take control of the contest. Clare Conway netted a first period hat trick, while Shelby Reaugh and Sydney Vautour also found the back of the net. Curry's Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) scored with 27 seconds remaining in the frame with assists from Paige Rodriguez (Eau Clair, Wis.) and Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) to make the score 5-1 after one.

Lancer junior Emily Pavoni scored twice in the second period to stretch the visitors' lead to 7-1 after two, and Reaugh and Brandi Lee scored in the third to give the game its final score of 9-1.

Two Curry netminders split time between the pipes for the Colonels. Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) made seven saves on 12 shots in the first period before she was replaced by Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.), who made 18 saves in the contest's final two periods.

Curry will be back on the ice against the University of New England on Friday evening. Puck drop from UNE is slated for 7:00 p.m.
