Colonels Split Series With Rivier University Raiders

NASHUA, NH - The Curry College Women's Ice Hockey team was downed by Rivier University in the second matchup of the weekend splitting the series. The contest went in favor of the hosting Raiders 2-1 Saturday evening.

With the loss on the road, the Colonels fall to 3-10 overall on the season and 1-7 in the conference. With the win, Rivier improves to 1-9-1 overall on their season.

The Colonels quickly tallied a goal in the first period of play. Just 35 seconds into the contest Colonel's forward Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) found the back of the net granting her side an early lead. Goolgasian's goal was assisted by Alex Ledin (Foxboro, Mass.) and Emily Waden (Melrose, Mass.) early in the night's game. Rivier would turn around to equalize the contest only three minutes later with an unassisted goal from left-wing Brianna Parent. Rivier's Brianna Parent found an opening in the framework for the second time later in the period, giving the edge to the hosts. Parent's second goal of the contest was assisted by Angeline Rasby and Heather McHatton, putting the Raiders up 2-1.

The Rivier goal midway through the first period would prove to be the final score of the weekend matchup; deciding the non-conference meeting 2-1.

Rivier's Rachel Hinkley saw 37 shots Saturday evening, saving 36 in the win.

Curry's Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.) saved 10 out of 12 shots faced in the loss on the road.
