Dunn Scores 1000 Career Points, Leads Women’s Hoops to Victory Over WIT

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology 72-60 in a Conference of New England women's basketball game Wednesday afternoon at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the win, the Colonels' overall record improves to 7-13 and their conference record bumps up to 4-9.

With just 38 seconds remaining in the contest, junior guard Lauren Dunn hit a free throw to score her 1,000th career point, joining a list of nine other Curry College women's basketball players who achieved the milestone.

After trailing 6-0 early in the contest, a Sophie Hilbrunner layup was the catalyst of the Curry offense. She and Dunn combined for 22 points in the first half to send the Colonels to the locker room with a 32-25 advantage.

The Colonels held on to a comfortable lead for the rest of the second half, led by Dunn who finished the game leading all players with 23 points. Hilbrunner finished with 18 points, four rebounds, and three blocks. Kylie McCarthy finished with an impressive stat line of 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals while Lauren Morse knocked down four threes to finish with 12 points and five rebounds.

Curry College returns to action on Saturday, February 8th, hosting Roger Williams at Katz Gymnasium, tip-off is set for noon.
