
DUDLEY, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 83-72 by Nichols College in a Conference of New England women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 6-13 and drop to a conference record of 3-9.
After trailing 9-5 early in the contest Curry went on an eight-point scoring run kickstarted by a Kylie McCarthy layup and capped off by a pair of free throws by Kasey Reeves. With the score tied 13-13, the visitors went on another run, this time a 7-0 surge that ended with a pair of free throws by Lauren Morse.
After going into halftime with a five-point lead over the Bison, the sehome team reestablished an advantage in the second half that would prove too large for the Colonels to overcome.
Sophie Hilbrunner and Lauren Dunn combined for 45 of Curry's 72 points, led by a double-double by Hilbrunner with 23 points and 11 rebounds while Dunn had four rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Reeves was another impact player with eight points and 11 rebounds.
Curry College returns to action on Wednesday, February 5th, in a home game beginning at 5:30 p.m.
