Women’s Basketball Swept Up by Nor’easters

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 77-62 by the University of New England in a Conference of New England women's basketball game Wednesday afternoon at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels' overall record falls to 5-9, and their conference record drops to 2-5.

After a slow first quarter that saw Curry score only two field goals, the home team picked up the pace in the second, led by Lauren Dunn who finished with seven first-half points. Dunn went 3-for-6 from the field, leading to 15 second-quarter points for the Colonels.

The third quarter was Curry's strongest with the squad outscoring the visitors by a margin of 23-17 with 11 of those points coming from Dunn who went 3-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the period.

Dunn finished the game leading all scorers with a game-high 21 points while dishing out three assists and snatching one steal. Sophie Hilbrunner was another major contributor with 14 points and 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double while adding a game-high three blocks. Kylie McCarthy finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

Curry College returns to action on Saturday, January 18th, for a road CNE matchup against Western New England University beginning at 1 p.m.
