
BOSTON - Curry College returned to the win column with a decisive 63-47 victory over Conference of New England rival Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday afternoon in a women's basketball game at Tansey Gymnasium.
With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 4-8 and a conference record of 1-4.
After being outscored by five points in the first quarter, the Colonels won the next three to pick up their first conference win. Kylie McCarthy was the catalyst for Curry, exploding for 10 points in the second quarter alone to tie the game at 28-28 heading into halftime.
The Colonels' defense shined in the second half of the game, allowing just 11 points in the third and only eight in the final quarter. As a team, Curry forced 12 steals and 30 turnovers, scoring 28 points off of turnovers compared to only 13 for Wentworth.
McCarthy led all players with a game-high 16 points while Lauren Morse knocked down a pair of threes to finish with 10. Kasey Reeves, Lauren Dunn, and Samantha Conti finished the game with nine points each.
Curry College returns to action on Saturday, January 11th, with another away game, this time against Hartford beginning at 1 p.m.
