Women’s Basketball Outlasted by Nichols

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 71-66 in a competitive contest against Nichols College Saturday afternoon in a Conference of New England women's basketball game at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 3-8 and a conference record of 0-4.

All three of Curry's first-quarter field goals were three-pointers from Kylie McCarthy, Lauren Morse, and Lauren Dunn. After trailing by as much as 10 points in the second quarter, the Colonels battled back late in the half, going on a 10-point scoring run to close out the half and take a 30-26 lead.

The Colonels held onto their lead throughout the entirety of the third quarter and four minutes through the fourth when a Bison three-pointer took the lead away from the home team. From there, the two teams went back and forth with Nichols holding onto a slight lead that would last until the final buzzer.

Morse was a standout player for Curry, finishing with a team-high 21 points while shooting 4-for-7 from three-point range. Dunn finished with 15 points while shooting 3-for-4 from behind the arc.

Curry College returns to action on Tuesday, January 7th, in a road matchup against Wentworth beginning at 5 p.m.
