Women's Basketball Bested by Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 74-53 by Roger Williams Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball action at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 4-3 and a conference record of 0-2.

Emerson Cherry (Sturbridge, Mass.) and Kylie McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) both knocked down threes in the first quarter to keep the Colonels within six points of the Roger Williams lead heading into the second.

Cherry continued to hit shots in the second with another three-pointer and a successful three-point play after getting fouled on a drive to the basket late in the quarter. McCarthy knocked down another three of her own, leaving the pair shooting a combined 4-for-5 from behind the arc heading into halftime.

Cherry led Curry with 12 points and six steals while Olivia Gourdine (Barnstable, Mass.) was another significant contributor with 12 points coming off the bench.

Curry College returns to play on Thursday, December 7th, to take on Wheaton in a non-conference home contest beginning at 5:30 p.m.
