Women's Basketball Edged by Visiting Framingham State, 69-62

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Women's Basketball team was edged by visiting Framing State University, 69-62, in non-conference action Tuesday night in Milton. The Rams improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Colonels now stand at 2-2 overall.

Curry scored the final basket in the first half with nine seconds remaining, after senior Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) drained a three-pointer to give the Colonels a 33-27 lead entering intermission.

Sophomore Sarah Palace (Auburn, Mass.) opened the second half with a made three-pointer for Framingham State, then Curry ran off six-straight points to claim a 37-30 advantage with 18:58 on the clock. Freshman Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) started the run with a jumper, while junior Shannon Griffith (West Hartford, Conn.) scored the next four points.

The visitors would steadily chip away, tying the game at 55-55 after sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) split a pair from the charity stripe with 4:03 left in the second frame. Freshman Payton Bruegger (Millbury, Mass.) also split a pair of free throws, giving the Rams a lead (56-55) they would never relinquish. Framingham State went on to score 13 of the game's final 20 points, leading to the 69-62 victory.

The Rams were led by Rackliffe with 16 points and a team-best 11 rebounds. Palace scored a team-high 18 points, while senior Nicole Bostic (Easton, Mass.) chipped in with 14 points.

Beltz led all players with 20 points, while also swiping six steals. Senior Samantha Corcoran (Hampton, N.H.) and Griffith each recorded a double-double. Corcoran scored 12 points and pulled down 14 boards, while Griffith had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Colonels host Western New England on Wednesday, December 3 for their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off time, while Framingham State travels to Rivier University on Tuesday, December 2 for a non-conference contest at 5:30 p.m.
