MILTON, Mass. – Junior forward Jessica Nelson (North Providence, R.I.) poured in a game-high 29 points, leading visiting Nichols to a 74-65 win over Curry in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action Saturday afternoon in Milton. Curry was ahead for much of the first half, but never held a lead larger than five points. The contest was also tied seven times during the opening frame. Tied at 37-37, Nichols scored the last four points before intermission on free throws by three different players.

The second half was closely contested as well. The Colonels pulled even for the last time at 8:47, after a layup by freshman G/F Julia Scrubb (Stow, VT) knotted the score at 54-54. But the Bison responded with a 20-11 run to coast to the win.

Nelson led all scorers with 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 shooting from the charity stripe. Senior guard Alena Jasinski (Canton, CT) and freshman guard Natalie Wilson (Bedford, NH) came off the bench to contribute 13 and 10 points, respectively. Junior forward Andrea Ferris (Windsor, MA) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Curry was led by Scrubb, who scored a team-best 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 shooting from the free-throw line. Junior guard Joneiha Veiga (Brockton, MA) chipped in with 11 points and a game-high 10 boards.
