Bartow, FL - For the second straight day the Curry Softball team split a doubleheader, moving two 2-2 on the season.

Game One vs Carthage

Neither team really got anything going in the first two innings. It was the Colonels who used a two out rally to take the lead. Ana Tsonis singled to centerfield, and then scored on a Morgan Barmash double. Barmash then scored on a Gracie Keyes single, giving the Colonels a 2-0 lead. It would stay that way until the sixth when a pair of errors proved costly for the Colonels, allowing the Firebirds to tie things up. They would then grab two more in the seventh, and then kept the Colonels from doing anything in their last at bats, beating the Colonels 4-2.

Renee Gonneville had two hits, while Natalia O'Kleasky had two walks. On the mound Jillian Rogers was her usual self, striking out six, and allowing just five hits. She pitched the first five innings, and then came back in in the middle of the seventh.

Game Two vs Earlham

The Colonels would then battle the Earlham Quakers in their second game of the day. It turned into a real pitcher's duel, as both starting pitchers racked up the outs. In games like that, it can often come down to a single hit, and that is literally what happened for the Colonels. In the fifth inning after Isabella Monsanto got on base with a walk, Jennelle Munoz hit a pinch hit double to score a pinch runner. That was the only hit of the game for the Colonels, but it was all they needed, as Caitlyn Wood was stellar on the mound. She pitched her third career shutout, going all seven innings and allowing just six hits. She struck out five.

Up Next - The Colonels will be back at it tomorrow when they take on Regis and Washington College.
