Milton, MA - The Curry softball team split their Sunday doubleheader against Hartford, moving to 14-16 on the season, while the Hawks are now 22-7-1.

Game One

The Colonels scored first in this game, scoring a run on a Jillian Rogers fielder's choice. The score would sit at 1-0 all the way until the fifth, when the Hawks put up five runs. But the Colonels inched closer in the bottom half of the inning, putting two runners on base with a pair of walks. Both proved costly for the Hawks, as Madelyn White and Taylor McDermott each picked up an RBI single to make it 5-3. Things would stay right there until the Colonels came to bat in the bottom of the seventh, as they were down to their last three outs. But they got plenty of help from the Hawks, as the first three batters reached base on Hartford errors, the second two on sacrifice bunts. A run came in on the third error to make it 5-4. Madelyn White then became the third straight batter to place a sacrifice bunt down, with the tying run scoring on the play. After a flyout, Morgan Barmash then stepped up to the plate, and laced the walk-off single into right field, giving Curry the 6-5 win.

Of the seven Curry hits, Renee Gonneville, Taylor McDermott, and Morgan Barmash had six of them with two each. Along with the walk-off hit, Barmash also picked up the win in the circle, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

Game Two

It was a pitcher's duel early, as neither team scored in the first three innings. It was the Hawks who struck first, scoring a run in the fourth on a double. They would then add four more in the sixth, before adding one final run in the seventh to go up 6-0.

The lone Colonel hit in this game came from Natalie O'Kleasky in the fifth, as she blooped one into center field. Caitlyn Wood got the loss in the circle, going 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs.

Up next - The Colonels will return to play on Tuesday when they travel to Bridgewater State for a 3pm start.
