Milton, MA - The Curry softball team took down the Lesley Lynx in both games of their doubleheader on Tuesday, moving to 13-15 on the season, while the Lynx are now 3-18.

Game One

Game one on the day was played in a quick pace, with only five combined hits between the teams. In the third after Mary Rodrigues walked to lead off the inning, she then stole second and third base, before scoring on a Renee Gonneville bunt single, giving the Colonels a 1-0 lead. They would then add an insurance run in the sixth on a Jillian Rogers solo home run, her third of the season. That proved to be all Curry needed, as Rogers was lights out in the circle, allowing just a second inning single, while striking out 12, helping lead the Colonels to the 2-0 win. Of the four hits for Curry, Gonneville had three of them, with the lone other hit being Rogers' homer.

Game Two

Just like the first game, the second game was the Jillian Rogers show. After falling behind 3-0 after the top half of the first inning, the Colonels first three batters in the bottom half of the inning reached base, loading the bases for Rogers. She would take advantage, and launch the ball over the fence for a grand slam, giving Curry a 4-3 lead. The score would remain that way until the sixth, when Rogers came to the plate with a runner on. She would once again take advantage, this time tattooing a ball off the new scoreboard in right field, making it 6-3. That would be all the scoring, as the Colonels took home the win.

With her two homers, Rogers had six RBIs in the game. She also reached base in all four of her at bats, walking and getting hit by a pitch in her other two at bats. Renee Gonneville, Morgan Barmash, and Cailene Dupras each walked twice.

Caitlyn Wood went all seven innings in the circle for the Colonels, settling down after the first inning. She struck out four batters.

Up next - The Colonels will return to the field on Sunday when they host Hartford at 12pm.
