Milton, MA - The Curry softball team fell in both games of their doubleheader on Tuesday against Eastern Nazarene, dropping to 9-9 on the season. The Lions moved to 7-13.

Game One

In the first game of the day, the Colonels fell 5-2. The Lions opened the scoring in the first with a run, and then doubled the lead in the third. Both runs scored on groundouts to second base. The Colonels would tie things up in the bottom of the third, with RBI singles from Mary Rodrigues and Jillian Rogers. But after retaking the lead on a wild pitch in the fourth, the Lions would add some insurance runs in the sixth on a pair of RBI singles, putting them ahead by the final margin 5-2.

Natalia O'Kleasky had two hits for the Colonels, and scored one of their two runs. Rogers pitched the first six innings for Curry, picking up the loss. She allowed five hits and four earned runs while striking out five.

Game Two

In a much higher scoring game two, the Lions once again came away with the win, beating Curry 9-6. The Lions put up five runs in the first inning, grabbing control. But the Colonels fought back, scoring three runs on a Jordan Ferullo bases clearing double in the second, making it 5-3. They would inch even closer in the fourth on a Madelyn White RBI double. But the Lions would score three more times across the next two innings, making it 9-4. The Colonels would score twice in the sixth, drawing within three. They would then get the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but would hit into a game-ending double play.

Three different players recorded three hits for the Colonels in Ferullo, Rogers and Hailey King. Rogers also reached base two other times via walks. Caitlyn Wood picked up the loss in the circle, allowing four earned runs across five innings.

Up Next - The Colonels will return to conference play when they travel to Wentworth on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
