MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College softball team traded a pair of 4-0 decisions with visiting Gordon College on Friday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. The Fighting Scots took game one while the Colonels rebounded to win game two.

Curry now sits at 10-20 overall and 5-11 in the CCC. Gordon is 9-20 overall and 5-11 in conference play.

Game One – Gordon 4, Curry 0

The Fighting Scots were the first to get on the board in the opener, tallying two runs in the third. Arianna Ramsaran (Johnson City, Tenn.) got things started with an RBI groundout to second, which helped score Lily Rivera (Concord, N.H.) from third to grab a 1-0 lead. Gordon continued the frame with a single from Caitlin Catalanotto (Kinston, N.H.) to plate Karissa Hatchell (Easton, Colo.).

The visitors did not record runs again until the seventh. After Hatchell was hit by a pitch to begin the inning, Ramsaran stepped to the plate and crushed a home run to center to double up the score, 4-0.

Rivera led the way for Gordon with a 2-for-4 performance at the dish with a run scored. Hatchell, Ramsaran, and Catalanotto each registered a hit to close the offensive output for the Fighting Scots.

Kevi Oatway (East Hartford, Conn.) and Jordan Perzan (Burlington, Conn.) paced the Colonels with two hits apiece. Jocelyn Dimond (Weare, N.H.), Mikayla Lambert (Blackstone, Mass.), Michaela Colleran (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Talia Forte (North Scituate, R.I.) recorded one hit each to close out that column.

Catalanotto picked up the win in the circle, tossing a complete game. She allowed eight hits while striking out four and walking two.

Lambert was credited with the loss for Curry. The senior surrendered four runs on five hits. Additionally, she fanned five and walked one in the defeat.

Game Two – Curry 4, Gordon 0

The Colonels were the first to score, registering two in the bottom of the first. Oatway drove in the first run of the contest after she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The play sent Dimond to the plate to give Curry the early lead. Later in the frame, Kiana Lloyd (Worcester, Mass.) grounded out to third, which scored Forte.

In the next frame, the Colonels tacked on another run thanks to an RBI double to right to plate Taylor Newcomb (Millville, Mass.). Newcomb would later deliver a single to center in the fourth to score Colleran.

Newcomb went a perfect 3-for-3 in the nightcap while five other Curry student-athletes each had a hit to close out the column.

Rivera and Sarah Ryder (Telford, Pa.) led the Fighting Scots with two hits apiece. Kristen Brown (Granite Springs, N.Y.) and Meredith Kercher (Ipswich, Mass.) had the final two hits for Gordon.

Rebecca Black (East Greenwich, R.I.) secured the victory in the circle, going the distance. The senior allowed six hits while walking one and striking out six. Jasmine Mullally (Waterford, N.Y.) was given the loss, yielding four runs on five hits with two walks.

Curry continues its homestand on Saturday against Wentworth with a doubleheader starting at noon for Senior Day. Gordon travels to the University of New England on Saturday for a conference doubleheader beginning at noon.
