Three Softball Student-Athletes Earn All-CCC Accolades

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference has announced its 2017 Softball All-Conference Teams and three Curry softball student-athletes took home honors. Junior Kevi Oatway (East Hartford, Conn.) was named to the Second Team while Mikayla Korona (Bellingham, Mass.) and Mikayla Lambert (Blackstone, Mass.) landed on the Third Team.  

Oatway finished the regular season with 31 hits in 100 at-bats (.310 batting average). She had a double, a triple and ranked third on the team with three home runs. The junior also had 21 runs batted in, good enough to rank tied for 13th in the conference. Additionally, she scored 11 runs.

Korona earns Third Team accolades, landing on an All-CCC Team for the second straight season. The senior co-captain saw action in 28 games during regular season play, amassing a .341 batting average with 28 hits in 82 at-bats. 

Lambert is a repeat Third Team performer after earning a Third Team selection last season. The junior concluded the regular season ranked second on the team in hits with 43 in 117 plate appearances. She tallied eight doubles, and 21 runs batted in. In the circle, the Blackstone, Mass. native had a record of 5-9 with eight complete games. In 86 total innings, the hurler recorded 34 strikeouts, walked 26 and had an earned run average of 3.01.

Curry has qualified for the CCC Tournament as the seven seed and travels to six seed Nichols for a play in game set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
