Alumni Team Wins 13th Annual Alumni Softball Game

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Softball Program held its 13th Alumni Game on Sunday, September 25. There were 15 softball alumni who returned to the diamond ready for action. The alumni squad banged out seven hits, including two each by Kim Sturgis ’07 and Maria Sancinito ’06. They also took advantage of four walks and two errors to come away with a 6-4 victory. Janelle Mayo ’11 returned to the mound and kept the current team bats in check all day with a strong pitching effort.

Prior to the start of the game, Lisa Bello ’04 led us with an inspired version of our National Anthem.  It was a reunion of former Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Star players and members of the Curry College Athletic Hall of Fame.  Michelle Maiocca Belmonte ’98, Leanne Tarkanian ’00, and Nicole Leckie ’01 along with many other great players, enjoyed the day of softball.  It certainly was an exciting game with plenty of laughs as well.  A post-game barbeque for over 100 people was held at the field to wrap up the day.

The Curry College Softball Program would like to thank all the players who made it back for this great day of softball and would like to invite you to attend some of our games in the Spring.  Perhaps one more Spring Break Trip to Ft. Myers, Florida would do the trick.  If you were unable to make it this year, plan on joining us next year.  It’s a good time!
