Softball Gains a Doubleheader Split with Eastern Nazarene
MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College softball team split a conference doubleheader with Eastern Nazarene, dropping the opener 2-0, but winning the nightcap, 3-2. The Colonels are now 7-13 overall and 4-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), while the Lions now stand at 7-11 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

GAME ONE

After three scoreless innings, Eastern Nazarene put the first run on the board in the fourth after Amber Burns (Fall River, MA) crossed the plate. In the sixth, the Lions added another run after Burns doubled to center field to bring home Taylor Fleming (Upland, IN).

Sophomore Jamie Block (Pembroke, MA) picked up the win in the circle, allowing no runs on seven hits and striking out four. Eastern Nazarene’s offense was led by Bethany Greenfield (Parsippany, NJ) and Hannah Moore (Sheridan, CA), both going 2-for-3.

Curry’s Taryn Vigeant (Terryville, CT) went 2-for-3, while Chelsey Munsey (Leominster, MA) took the loss.

GAME TWO
Box Score

In the second game, the Lions scored two runs in the first inning after a two-run home run off the bat of Burns. In the second inning, Mikaela Carney (North Reading, MA) singled to center to bring home Janelle Mayo (Worcester, MA) and Munsey to tie the game at 2-2.

In the fourth, the Colonels took the lead after Valarie LaSala (Seaford, NY) singled to center to score Vigeant. Mayo held Eastern Nazarene to no runs and two hits over the last three innings to secure the victory.

Carney collected two hits and two RBI. Mayo picked up the win, allowing only four hits and two runs, while striking out three.

Burns had one hit and two RBI, while Hannah Moore took the loss, allowing four hits and one run, while striking out four.

Curry hosts Regis on Sunday in a conference doubleheader with a 1:00 p.m. start. The Lions host Anna Maria on Sunday for a conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
