Softball Suffers a Pair of Setbacks Against Visiting Nichols
MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Softball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Nichols College, 13-3 and 13-8, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action Sunday afternoon in Milton. The Bison improved to 6-7 overall and 2-0 in TCCC action, while the Colonels fell to 6-10 overall and 3-3 in league play.

The Colonels banged out nine hits, including a pair each from Megan Flaherty, Heather Carrier and Valarie LaSala. But Nichols used a five-run third inning to put the opener away. Paige Smigiel had a two-run single for the home team. Amanda Peters absorbed the loss, falling to 1-2 on the season.

Curry again collected nine hits, but Nichols scored at least three runs in four of the first five innings to put the nightcap out of reach. Taryn Vigeant launched a seventh-inning, two-run home run which cut the deficit to five, but the game ended on two infield groundouts. Vigeant knocked in three runs, while Janelle Mayo and Mikaela Carney each knocked in a pair. Chelsey Munsey was tagged with the loss, dropping her season record to 2-2.
