Softball Suffers a Pair of Shutouts on Day 2 in Florida
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Curry College softball team slipped to 0-4 after absorbing a pair of shutouts on Day 2 at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. The Colonels dropped a tight 2-0 contest to Saint Mary's of Indiana, before falling to Heidelberg University, 10-0, in five innings.

Curry senior Janelle Mayo (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Jennifer Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) combined to toss a three-hitter, but Saint Mary's (4-1) pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and made them stand up over the final two frames. The Colonels could only muster infield singles by sophomore Amanda Felzmann (Bellingham, Mass.) and rookie Taryn Vigeant (Terryville, Conn.).

Heidelberg (6-0) scored all 10 runs off Curry starter Chelsey Munsey (Leominster, Mass.) over the first three innings. Lundstrom came on to shut down the high-powered Heidelberg offense over the final 2 2/3 innings. The Colonels offense generated five hits, including another base knock from Felzmann, but Curry was unable to plate a run off junior Lexie Pinkelman (Metamora, Ohio), who allowed four hits while striking out four.
