Boston, MA - The Curry Men's Volleyball team fell in both of their matches on Saturday in straight sets to Emerson and Regis. The Colonels are now 4-9 on the season while Regis is 11-6 and Emerson is 4-7.
Match One vs Regis
The Colonels fell in straight sets to Regis for the second time this season, losing 25-13, 25-18, 25-15. Things started off slow for Curry as they lost 10 of the first 11 points in set one, and were never able to recover. The second set saw the Colonels hold a brief lead, but the Pride roared back to take the set in commanding fashion. The third set was similar to the first, and allowed Regis to win the match in straight sets.
The Colonels were led by Hashim Khan on offense, as he had seven kills on .417 hitting percentage. Khan has been dealing with injuries to start the season, and his performance today showcased what he is truly capable of. Just behind him were Michael Swanigan and Chris Milfort with six kills each. Loden Broe led the team with 13 set assists and six digs.
Match Two vs Emerson
The Colonels had a quick turnaround, as immediately after their first match, they had to take on hosts Emerson. Unfortunately it was a similar story, as the Colonels fell 25-12, 25-20, 25-16. It was the same story in each set, as the Lions would get out to a quick lead, and then coast to the set win.
For Curry, only two players had more than two kills, led by Camron DeMello (6) and Chris Milfort (5). Milfort also led the team with 11 digs, while Loden Broe led the way with 11 set assists.
Up Next - The Colonels will next hit the court on Wednesday when they travel to Nichols for a 7pm match.
