O'Brien Captures Singles Victory; Men's Tennis Topped By Endicott

MILTON, Mass. – Endicott College defeated Curry College 8-1 in non-conference men's tennis action on Thursday afternoon.

The Gulls opened the match with a clean sweep of doubles action. Senior Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) and junior Collin Dinardo (Westport, Mass.) took down freshman Anthony Johnson (Boston, Mass.) and junior Lorenzo Russo (Lynnfield, Mass.) in top doubles play, 8-1.  In number two doubles action, freshman Julian Richtarich (Westport, Conn.) and junior Zachary Lane (Rutland, Vt.) bested freshman Roland Polasek (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) and sophomore Nicholas Bell (Haverhill, Mass.), 8-4. Freshman Julian Coyle (Derry, N.H.) and junior Elijah Harris (Haverhill, Mass.) gave Endicott a sweep of doubles with an 8-5 win over juniors Tarek Paranica (Grand Forks, N.D.) and David Monteiro (Fall River, Mass.) at number three doubles.

In top singles play, Rinkert defeated Johnson in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.  Richtarich got by Russo at number two singles, 6-1, 6-1. Dinardo downed Polasek at third singles, 6-2, 6-1. Harris and Lane finished with victories at number four and six singles, respectively. Junior Timothy O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.) earned the Colonels' lone win of the match when he defeated Coyle in number five singles play, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).

The win lifted the Gulls' record to 4-4, while Curry dropped to 0-7 on the season.

Curry and Endicott will close out its season series in Beverly on Saturday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m.
