BIDDEFORD, Maine – Curry College freshman Anthony Johnson (Boston, Mass.) was named as the Commonwealth Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's tennis on Monday.

Johnson picked up the Colonels' lone point in an 8-1 setback against Wentworth on Saturday. Playing in the top doubles spot, Johnson took a narrow 8-7 loss, dropping the tiebreak 7-5. However, he was able to salvage a point in his first collegiate singles match, playing at No. 1. He claimed a first-set victory 7-5 before falling 2-6 in the middle frame. He won the third set 11-9, helping his team avoid the sweep.

Curry (0-1 overall, 0-1 CCC) will next play at Endicott College on Wednesday, March 31 at 3:30 p.m.
