Curry Downs Lynx, 9-0, To Grab First Win
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University had their Senior Night spoiled by Curry College as the Colonels blanked the Lynx 9-0 in a non-conference bout played at the Harvard Tennis Facility. Curry improves to 1-14 on the season while Lesley slides to 0-9.
 
Prior to the start of the match, Lesley head coach Shawna Sarson honored lone senior Jack Tortorici (Grass Valley, Calif.) for all his dedicated efforts to the men's tennis program and the Lesley Athletics Department.
 
Doubles play kicked off the match as the Curry tandem of Toma Blatchford (Westmount, Quebec) and Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) down Tortorici and Niko Marcolini (Newbury, Mass.) 8-0 in the first flight. Charlie Paltsios (Westford, Mass.) and Michael Mathieu (Paxton, Mass.) delivered an 8-2 victory over Lesley's Max Anthony (Cambridge, Mass.) and Alex Bonilla-Guevara (Cambridge, Mass.) in the second match before Daniel Rittucci (Middleboro, Mass.) and Sergei Evans (New York, N.Y.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 triumph over Devon Mayo (Newport News, Va.) and Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, Mass.).
 
Blatchford earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Marcolini in top singles play while Hefler topped Anthony 6-1, 6-2 at number two. Evans downed sophomore Khyle Park (Cambridge, Mass.) 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 in number six singles while Paltrios, Mathieu, and Ritucci all scored 6-0, 6-0 victories for the Colonels.
 
Lesley will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Wentworth Institute of Technology at 12:00p. Curry will kick-off a three-match homestand on Saturday as they play host to Endicott College at 12:00p.
