Curry College Men's Tennis Falls to Bridgewater State University, 7-2

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team fell to visiting opponent Bridgewater State University, 7-2, at the Big Nine Courts on Thursday afternoon.  With the win, the Bears improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Colonels fall to 0-7 overall. Curry took 2 out of 6 of the singles matches. The Bears swept all three double matches.

Curry's  No. 1 singles player, Toma Blatchford (Westmount, Quebec) won his match 6-4, 7-5 against Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.).  The Colonel's No. 2 singles player Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) claimed his tilt verse Chris Jastrab (Chicago, Ill.) 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Andrew Hegarty (East Islip, N.Y.) was bested by Michael Delisle (Berkeley, Mass.), 7-5, 6-2. Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) earned the No. 4 singles win for Bridgewater, 6-1, 5-7, 10-0 by defeating Michael Mathieu (Paxton, Mass.). The Bear's Andrew Narciso (East Bridgewater, Mass.) earned 6-0, 6-0 wins over Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) and at the No. 6 position, Harrison Ryan (Halifax, Mass.) won by default.

In doubles, the No.1 pair McGee and Delisle earned an 8-6 victory over the Colonels Blatchford and Hefler.  The No. 2 duo of Jastrab and Haley bested Curry's Ritucci and Mathieu, 8-1.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Bear's doubles partners, Narciso and Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) won by default.

The Colonels return to action on Tuesday, March 29 at 3:00 when they host Western New England in a conference battle.
