Men's Tennis Cruises Past Visiting Eastern Nazarene, 7-2

MILTON, Mass. – Host Curry College took five of six singles matches, and went on to defeat visiting Eastern Nazarene, 7-2, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men’s tennis action Thursday afternoon in Milton. With the victory, the Colonels improved to 7-7 overall and 5-3 in TCCC action. The Lions fell to 4-11 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Curry earned points from freshman Gregory Kirschner (Williston Park, NY), who defeated senior Michael Chan (Quincy, MA), 6-1, 6-0, at #1 singles; senior Brian Leahy (Reading, MA), who defeated sophomore James Rich (Duxbury, MA), 6-2, 6-2, at #3; junior Tyler Dulmage (Woodstock, VT), who defeated senior Tyler Restrick (Bel Air, MD) in a third-set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8, at #4; junior J.D. Moyer (Cape Elizabeth, ME), who defeated freshman Chris Ramey (North Augusta, SC), 6-0, 6-0, at #5; and senior Ben Radzicki (Sterling, MA), who defeated junior Ryan Robbins (Santa Clarita, CA), 6-2, 6-0, at #6. Eastern Nazarene picked up its only singles point at #2, where freshman Austin Steelman (Darlington, MD) defeated junior Charlie Edlund (Hanover, MA), 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, Leahy teamed with Kirschner to defeat Steelman and Chan, 8-4, at #1, while Dulmage and Moyer handled Ramey and Robbins, 8-5, at #3. The Lions’ team of Restrick and Rich pulled out a hard-fought 9-8 win at #2 over Radzicki and Edlund, capturing the tiebreaker, 7-3.

Both teams resume play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., with Curry traveling to Salve Regina and Eastern Nazarene hosting Roger Williams.
