Biddeford, ME - The Curry Men's Soccer team took on UNE on Wednesday, and played to a 3-3 draw. The Colonels are now 5-8-4 on the season, and 0-3-4 in CNE play, while the Nor'easters are now 5-7-4 and 2-4-1.
There was a flurry of action early, beginning with an Aiden Watt Penalty kick goal to put the Colonels ahead in the sixth minute. But just a minute later the Nor'easters tied things up, and they went ahead quickly thereafter, scoring again in the ninth minute.
Things slowed down, but only slightly, as Watts fired home his second penalty kick goal of the game in the 24th minute. This was his 11th goal of the season, and his fifth penalty kick goal of the season. The game was 2-2 at the break.
The second half saw UNE retake the lead in the 53rd minute, but the Colonels would find an equalizer in the 77th minute, as Noah Korzeniowski scored his first career goal, assisted by Watts. That is how the game would end, in a 3-3 tie.
Along with the many goals, the game also saw many cards, as the two teams combined for eight cards. The Colonels had three yellow cards, while the Nor'easters had four yellow cards and one red card. All but one of the eight cards came in the first 38 minutes. As a result of the red card, the Nor'easters played the final 52 minutes of the game with 10 men.
The Colonels outshot the Nor'easters 20-6, with Watts having seven of those. The Colonels also won the corner kick battle 7-2.
Curry goalie Justin Ritz made three saves in the tie.
Up Next - The Colonels will play their final home game of the season on Saturday when they host Western New England at 6:30pm.
