BIDDEFORD, Maine - The league offices announced Tuesday afternoon that one Curry College soccer student-athlete received a weekly award from the Conference of New England.
Sophomore goalkeeper, Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y) was named CNE Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding contribution in the Colonels' 1-0 victory over UMass Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon.
Cunningham made a career-high 17 saves, the most made in a shutout since 2009 and the third most in program history. Among his many saves was a clutch stop on a penalty shot that kept the Corsairs off the board despite outshooting the Colonels 28-11.
The Curry College men's soccer team returns to action on Friday night in a home matchup against Colby-Sawyer on September 6th beginning at 6 p.m.
