Men's Soccer Doubles Up Western New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) notched a pair of second half tallies Saturday afternoon to lift the Curry College men's soccer team to a 2-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Western New England University at Suprenant Field.

With the victory, Curry improves to 6-4-3 overall on the season and 1-2-1 in the CCC.

Neither team found the net in a tightly-contested first half. Curry held a narrow 5-4 edge in the shot count, but both goalkeepers held firm.

Drons broke the ice in the 54th minute for the contest's first goal, and again in the 75th minute for some insurance. Sophomore Ean McGonigle (Rehoboth, Mass.) assisted on both goals.

Western New England made things interesting with a marker in the 82nd minute, but could get no closer as the Colonels secured the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Kyle Tremblay (Methuen, Mass.) made six saves to secure his fifth win of the season in net.

Curry will return to action on Tuesday for a home CCC matchup against Wentworth. Kickoff from Katz Field is slated for 4 p.m.
