Men's Soccer Bests Lasell

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Lasell University Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the win, Curry improves to 3-2-3 overall on the season, while Lasell drops to 1-7-0.

The contest's first goal came in the 41st minute, when sophomore Giovanni Martins (Brockton, Mass.) deposited a Justin Santiago (La Plata, Md.) feed past the Lasell keeper to put the Colonels ahead 1-0. The score line would hold into the half.

Just over five minutes into the second half, Curry extended its lead to 2-0 when junior Ryan Brady (Weymouth, Mass.) netted his second goal of the season. Martins notched an assist on the score.

Lasell got on the board in the 57th minute when senior Alexander Tavitian scored on a diving header off a feed from the right wing by classmate Chris Belliveau, cutting Curry's advantage to 2-1.

Moments after nearly conceding the tying goal when Lasell's Jake Ouellette rang the crossbar, Curry sealed the victory when Martins scored on a 2-on-1, assisted by Richard Silva (Pompano Beach, Fla.) in the 86th minute. The tally extended the lead to the game's final score of 3-1.

Junior Kyle Tremblay (Methuen, Mass.) picked up the victory for Curry in net, recording three saves for his second win of the season. Gabriel Bazikas took the loss for Lasell, making six saves in the defeat.

Curry will be back in action on Wednesday evening for a non-conference contest against Mitchell College at Katz Field. Lasell will play the same evening when they travel to Emmanuel College.
