Men's Soccer Plays Endicott to 1-1 Draw

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Curry College men's soccer team opened Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 1-1 double overtime draw with Endicott College Friday night at Hempstead Stadium.

With the draw, Curry moves to 2-1-2 on the season, and 0-0-1 in CCC play. Endicott moves to 1-2-2 on the season.

Endicott took the lead late in the first half on a Curry own goal, which nearly held up as the contest's lone tally.

Late in the match however, in the 80th minute, the Colonels found the equalizer. Sophomore Giovanni Martins (Brockton, Mass.) hopped on a rebound and beat the Endicott keeper to level the match. Eddie Medina (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Justin Santiago (La Plata, Md.) were credited with assists on Martins' first goal of the season. Neither team found the net in the final 10 minutes, sending the game to overtime.

Neither team mustered significant scoring chances in the 20 extra minutes, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Endicott outshot Curry 3-1 in the overtime periods, but none of the four shots landed on target.

Curry junior goalkeeper Kyle Tremblay (Methuen, Mass.) made a season-high 10 saves in the draw.

Curry will return to the pitch with a non-conference contest against Emmanuel College on Tuesday evening at Walter M. Katz Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
