Men’s Soccer Falls in First CCC Match

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Nichols College on Saturday night. With the win, the Bison improve to 5-2-1 with a 1-0-0 mark in Commonwealth Coast Conference play. The Colonels drop to 2-6-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the CCC.

After a quiet start to the match, the Bison drew first blood in the 40th minute as Jacob Sargent (Bolton, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-nil. Curry survived a pair of corner kicks from their guests early in the second half, but failed to break up a crucial pass from Nikolas Padilla (Worcester, Mass.) to Ryan Mangan (Braintree, Mass.) which led to Mangan doubling the lead at 2-0. Less than four minutes later, the Bison added to their advantage again as Padilla scored a goal of his own off a helper from Jonathan Ingram (Belchertown, Mass.). The Colonels could not seem to get anything going on offense and saw the match get locked up in favor of Nichols when John Fallon (Hudson, Mass.) hammered home their fourth goal of the evening in the 83rd minute. Lucas Vaadi (Mannsvile, N.Y.) was credited with the assist on the score.

Captain Claudio Orsini (Watertown, Conn.) led the Colonels in shots (4) while Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass., 2-6-0) picked up six saves, matching his counterpart, Juan Carlos De La Cruz (Stamford, Conn., 5-2-1). Despite not registering a point, Evan Lemoine (Rutland, Mass.) topped the Bison in shots in the victory with 4.

Curry will resume play when they host MIT for a 6:30 p.m. match on Wednesday, September 25. The Bison will get back to action on Tuesday, September 24 as they host the Hawks of Becker College at 3:30 p.m.
