Men's Soccer Earns Second Straight Win Defeating Emmanuel College, 1-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team defeated Emmanuel College, 1-0, on Thursday night at the Walter M. Katz Field. With the win the Colonels improve to 2-0 overall while the Saints fell to 0-1 on the season.

Both teams battled each other to a scoreless first half.  The squads had chances to score however solid play by both keepers showed 0-0 on the clock after 45 minutes of play.  Curry held a slight advantage in shots at 8-4 while Emmanuel led on corner kicks, 3-2.

It wasn't until the 73:58th minute of play that the Colonels would net their first of the match and eventual game-winner.  Senior Mike McFarland (Dedham, Mass.) tallied his second goal on the week of a pass by freshman Tristan Eckert (Weaverville, N.C.).  McFarland received the ball and one-timed it past the glove of Emmanuel's sophomore netminder Brendan Quinn (Colchester, Conn.).

The Colonels finished with 15 shots and five corner kicks.  The Saints finished with six shots and five corner kicks.

Junior Dan Johnson (Easton, Conn.) made two saves in net for the win.  Quinn made two stops in net for the loss.

Curry returns to action on Sunday, September 6 when they travel to Lyndon State for a 3:30 p.m. game start.  Emmanuel travels to Lesley on Monday September 7 in a 8:00 p.m. start.
