DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Paul Sickinger (Tyngsboro, Mass.) headed in two goals as the Nichols College men's soccer team defeated Curry 3-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.

The Bison (7-0-2, 2-0-1 CCC) were able to fire off 13 shots in the first half, but couldn't get anything in the goal. The Colonels were held to just three shots in the first 45 minutes.

It did not take Nichols long in the second half to put one on the board. In the 49th minute senior Phil Mitto (Windsor, Conn.) crossed it to the left side of the box and found freshman Rielee Mohsin (Stuart, Fla.) who then headed it into the lower left of the net.

Sickinger added another for the Bison at the 62-minute mark after freshman Cooper Milano (Caldwell, N.J.) threw the ball in directly to the head of Sickinger and into the back of the net.

The best scoring opportunity for the Colonels (5-3-1, 1-2-0 CCC) came in the 70th minute when junior Matt Cotnoir (Longmeadow, Mass.) was taken down in the box and was able to attempt a penalty kick. Cotnoir attempted to go to the lower-left of the net, but senior Jeremy Nash (West Springfield, Mass.) was able to snag it up for the save.

The Bison struck for one more in the 74th minute when Christian Cole (Gaithersburg, Md.) lobbed in a pass from 40 yards out and into the box. Sickinger was able to connect on another header, and bested sophomore goaltender Dan Johnson (Easton, Conn.) to make the score 3-0.

Nichols was led on the day by Mohsin with five shots as well as sophomore Felipe Schiller de Rezende (Bradenton, Fla.) with three. Curry finished the game with eight shots, three of which came off the foot of Cotnoir.

Nash improves to 3-0-2 on the season after picking up five saves. The win also marks Nash's third shutout of the season. Johnson falls to 5-3-1 with his three-save effort. 

"Curry is having a great season, and we knew they would come in prepared," said Nichols head coach Chris Traina. "We came out strong in the first half, but really seemed to pick it up in the second half."
