MILTON, Mass.- Curry College tied Salve Regina University, 0-0 in double overtime, in CCC action on Saturday in Milton.  With the tie the Colonels finish the regular season at 9-9-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Seahawks move to 6-8-3 overall and 2-4-3 in the CCC. 

Salve outshot Curry, 12-6 in the first half.  Just six of the Seahawks shots were on net.  Out of the Colonels’ six shots three landed on net.  Sophomore James Oliver (Hanover, Mass.) for Curry and freshman Kyle Kureczka (Berlin, Conn.) for Salve were solid between the pipes for their respective teams and held the squads scoreless heading into intermission.  

The Seahawks ended the half with 12 shots, six on net, three corners and three fouls.  The Colonels ended with six shots, three on net, one corner and five fouls.

Curry outshot Salve, 12-9 in the second half, but again, it was the goalkeeper’s strong play in net that kept the teams scoreless.  The Colonels had a goal taken back after a controversial offside call was made by the linesman.  That was closest Curry would come to a regulation goal.  Salve had their best chance with just less than 15 seconds to play when freshman Kyle Knoth (East Islip, N.Y.) took a shot directly in front of the net.  Oliver made a diving kick save to send the teams into overtime, still tied at zero apiece. 

Salve finished regulation with 21 shots, 13 on net, six corners and nine fouls.  Curry finished regulation with 18 shots, 12 on net, five corners and 10 fouls. 

The teams battled to a 0-0 tie, in two 10 minute overtime halves for a total of 110:00 minutes of play.  In the 20:00 minutes of OT, the Colonels outshot the Seahawks 5-3.  Both teams had three shots that made it on net, but neither squad could find a way to score. 

The final stats for Salve were; 24 shots, 16 on goal, six corners and 11 fouls.  Final stats for Curry were; 23 shots, 15 on goal, six corners, and 14 fouls.

Kureczka made 15 saves in net for the Seahawks.  Oliver made 16 saves in net for the Colonels.   

Curry ended the regular season schedule and will now wait to find out their seed for the CCC quarterfinals and who they will face on October 29. Salve Regina will host Fitchburg on Tuesday, October 25 for a 7:00 p.m. game start.
