Men's Soccer Tripped Up by Visiting Lasell College, 4-1

MILTON, Mass.- Lasell College defeated Curry College, 4-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday night in Milton.  With the win the Lasers improve to 2-0-1 overall.  The Colonels even their record at 2-2 overall. 

Lasell controlled most of the first half and were able to outscore Curry 2-0.   The Lasers got on the board first just 10:26 minutes into the game.  Sophomore Mike Skelton (Conway, N.H. ) scored his first of two goals on the night when he dribble by a Curry defender and placed the ball in the back right corner of the net.  Lasell scored their second midway through the first frame when sophomore Nery Guerra (Guatemala City) scored off an assist from junior Adam Luciano (Fairfield, Conn.).  Curry had their chances but couldn't find an opportunity to score.  The Lasers only outshot the Colonels by one in the first as they had nine and Curry had eight.  Both keepers came up with three saves in the half. 

The momentum was still in favor of Lasell as they came out strong and scored their third goal just 4:26 into the second half.  Guerra scored his second unassisted.  Curry finally got on the board at the 15:09 mark when  freshman Nicolas Chavez-Oramas (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) took a corner kick that landed infront of the net.  Junior Nick Lawless (Hull, Mass.) was able to collect the ball and one-touch it for the score.  That would be the lone goal for the Colonels.  Lasell however was able to net one more by Skelton who scored from outside the 18 yard box.

Lasell finished with 18 shots and Curry, 14. 

Senior goaltender Brian Newsome (Lawrenceville, N.J.) came out of the game after playing in 55:36 minutes. Newsome finished with 6 saves and three goals against.  Sophomore James Oliver (Hanover, Mass.) got into his first game of the season and finshed with two saves and one goal against.  Freshman Aren Moorman (Somerset, N.J) earned the win in net making six saves. 

The Colonels will travel to the University of New England on Saturday, September 10 for an 3:30 p.m. contest. Lasell hosts Emerson on Saturday, September 10 for a 2:30 p.m. game start.
