Men's Soccer Shut Out at Western New England 5-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior midfielder Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY) scored a pair of goals to lead Western New England College to a 5-0 victory over Curry in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action on Saturday (Oct. 23).

The Golden Bears improve to 11-5-2 overall with a 9-2-1 mark in TCCC play. The Colonels dip to 6-11-1 and have a 3-8-1 record in conference.

Western New England College took a 1-0 lead on an Own Goal in the 10th minute.

Fitzpatrick then scored his two goals in a 1:12 span to stretch the advantage to 3-0 for the home side. He now leads the team with seven goals on the year.

Freshman forward Andrew Rose (Farmington, CT) tacked on an insurance goal at 61:58, for his sixth of the year.

Junior midfielder Austin Santolini (Agawam, MA) scored the final goal at 87:03; he was assisted by classmate Alex Rosario (Chicopee, MA).

Junior goalkeeper Sean Healey (Portland, CT) picked up the win by making three saves in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Domenick Villano (Bronxville, NY) played the second half and made one stop.

Curry junior goalkeeper Brian Newsome (Lawrenceville, NJ) made eight saves in the contest.

Western New England College returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 26) at 3:00 p.m. as they host Anna Maria in the last regular season match of the season.  Curry travels to Nichols College on Tuesday (Oct. 26) for a 7:30 p.m. game.
