Men's Soccer Hands Gordon Its First TCCC Loss of the Season With a 1-0 Victory

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College defeated Gordon College 1-0 on Saturday in Milton.  With the win the Colonels improve to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Fighting Scots fell to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the TCCC. 

Despite the Fighting Scots outshooting the Colonels 26-12, Curry was able to earn the win with just one goal.  The Scots had 12 shots in the first half and 14 in the second, including eight total corner kicks.  Only 11 of the 26 shots however landed on net.  Solid play from junior goalkeeper Brian Newsome(Lawrenceville, NJ) held Gordon scoreless making 11 saves. 

The game remained tied at 0-0 until the 85:26 mark when sophomore Devin Sadlers (Somerset, MA) scored the game-winner.  Sadlers received a pass from sophomore Zachary Kumin (Needham, MA) at the top of the 18-yard box and then one-timed it into the top right corner of the net past Gordon’s goalkeeper sophomore Alex Sosler (Willoughby, OH). Sosler finished the day in goal with five saves.

Gordon had eight corner kicks with Curry having just three. Both teams were even in fouls with 10.

The Colonels will travel to Salve Regina University on Wednesday, October 6 for a 4:00 p.m. contest. Gordon hosts Endicott on Wednesday, October 6 for a 3:00 p.m. game start.
