Colonels Defeat Fighting Scots in Conference Opener

WENHAM, Mass. - Curry College Men's Lacrosse defeated CCC opponent Gordon College 7-5 in its conference opener Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Curry moves forward with an overall record of 2-4 and 1-0 in the CCC.

Curry struck first in the Commonwealth Coast Conference road matchup, sophomore attacker Mac Kline (Essex, Conn.) finding the back of the net assisted by Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.) with 6:25 remaining in the first quarter. 

The hosts would answer back 19 seconds later, Ryan Stephen Long putting his side on the board, tying the contest at 1-1. 

Curry's Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) regained the lead for the Colonels, netting an unassisted shot five minutes into the second quarter. 

A second goal from Colonels' senior midfielder Nick Perfetuo pushed Curry to a 5-2 lead in the final minutes of the third quarter. 

Two goals from the hosting Fighting Scots in the fourth quarter brought the contest to 5-4 in favor of the Colonels with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Gordon's Flemmi would find the back of the net with 4:28 remaining in the game to tie the contest at five goals a piece. 

With 2:22 left in the matchup, Curry's Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) netted a shot past Colin Liscomb to send the Colonels into the lead, 6-5. A second goal by Bryant just under a minute later would seal the Colonels' victory in Wenham, Mass. over Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College. 

Curry's junior netminder Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) notched eight saves in the conference win on the road.

The Colonels get back out on the field Wednesday as they travel to face Norwich in non-conference action set for 4 PM.
