Men's Lacrosse Bested by Western New England

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team was knocked off by Western New England University by a final score of 17-4 Thursday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 0-2 in CCC play and 3-7 overall.

The Golden Bears scored the first nine goals of the contest to take control from the outset. Curry broke the ice with just over five minutes to play in the second quarter when freshman Tim Sullivan (East Walpole, Mass.) scored with the man advantage, cutting his team's deficit to 9-1. Sullivan would score again just 1:02 later to account for all of Curry's offense in the opening half, as Western New England took a 10-2 lead into the break.

Sophomore Stephen Stackhouse (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and junior Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.) scored second half tallies for the Colonels, but the damage was already done and the Golden Bears secured the 17-4 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Evan Falandys (Leominster, Mass.) was credited with the loss between the pipes despite making eight saves in 30 minutes of action.

Curry will return to action with a Saturday morning road trip to Roger Williams University. Faceoff for the CCC contest is slated for 11 a.m.
