Colonels Hold Off Panthers, 7-6

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Men's Lacrosse team was victorious against non-conference opponent Plymouth State University on Katz Field Wednesday evening by a final score of 7-6.

With this victory, Curry continues their season with a record of 1-1, while Plymouth State University falls to 0-2 on their season thus far.

The Colonels grabbed a quick lead in the non-conference matchup, tallying four goals in the opening 10 minutes of play. Curry's Jack Dacey (Guilford, Conn.) kicked off scoring for his side, finding the back of the net at the 10:01 mark. Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) and Sam Nielsen (2) (Fairfield, Conn.) also marked goals in the opening quarter, facilitating Curry's comfortable lead into the first intermission.

Plymouth recorded their first goal of the evening early in the second quarter, Riley Roy putting his side on the board, still trailing 4-1. The Colonels would quickly answer back, with a Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) unassisted goal, putting Curry up 5-1.

Two more goals from the visiting Panthers in the third quarter would close the deficit and put some pressure on the Colonels heading into the final period of play. Curry's Perfetuo tallied his second of the evening, putting Curry up 7-3.

The visitors managed to find the back of the net on three occasions in the final quarter closing in on Curry's seemingly dominant lead. The Colonels would hold off any further attacking efforts from the Panthers and take the contest by a final score of 7-6.

The Colonels get back out on the field Saturday as they take a trip to Buzzards Bay, Mass. to face Mass. Maritime in non-conference action at 11 AM.
