Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past UNE

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team cruised to a 14-4 victory over the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) showdown on Saturday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.

Seven players found the back of the cage for the Colonels (3-3 overall, 2-1 CCC) on the day, led by five goals and an assist from freshman Jack Dacey (Guilford, Conn.) and two apiece from senior Samuel Nielsen (Fairfield, Conn.), freshman Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.), and graduate student Jake Stebbins (Colchester, Vt.).

Senior Sam Palmisano (Middleton, Mass.) recorded two goals to pace the Nor'easters (0-1 overall, 0-1 CCC) while freshman Jordan White (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) added a goal and an assist. Senior Devon Jackson (Milton, Vt.) was the other student-athlete to get in the scoring column.

Curry opened a 3-1 lead in the first quarter. Bryant opened the scoring with a goal coming off a helper from Stebbins while Dacey followed it up with a man-up unassisted marker with 8:34 to go in the opening frame. Palmisano found the back of the net at the 6:06 mark and Dacey finished the quarter with a goal with 2:47 remaining. The second Dacey tally was assisted by sophomore Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.).  

The teams traded goals to open the second quarter. DiBella scored off an assist from Bryant while Jackson found the back of the net with the helper going to senior Kyle Kennedy (Santa Monica, Calif.). Curry came back with three straight: one apiece from Stebbins, Hanson, and Dacey to build a 7-2 advantage with 4:53 to play in the half. UNE would score once more before halftime, thanks to an unassisted goal from White.

The Colonels would go on to outscore the Nor'easters 7-1 in the second half to run away with the ten-goal victory, 14-4.

Curry freshman goalie Evan Falandys (Leominster, Mass.) logged 56:50 between the pipes and made 17 saves to earn the win. Freshman Liam O'Neill (McMurray, Pa.) also saw action in the cage and made one saves in 3:10. Senior Kameron Bouvier (Amherst, N.H.) played the first half in goal for UNE and made 10 stops. Junior Matt Deyette (North Greenbush, N.Y.) came in for the second half and converted five saves.

Curry will next travel to the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. UNE will host Western New England University on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
