Senior Reflection: Raymond Makusiewicz - Men's Lacrosse

Senior Reflection: Raymond Makusiewicz - Men's Lacrosse

MILTON, Mass. – Following the cancellation of the spring seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including Senior Days, the Curry College Athletic Department wanted to give the senior student-athletes time to reflect on their career with the Colonels.

We continue our Senior Reflection web series and today we have Raymond Makusiewicz (Wallingford, Conn.) from men's lacrosse:

Major: Management

Favorite Thing About Your Sport: My favorite thing about lacrosse is putting in the hard work. The offseason is my favorite time of the year as you put in the most amount of work preparing for the season.

Favorite Moment on the Field With the Colonels: Post-7:00 a.m. running yoga with the team. It was always so rewarding after a hard morning of work. Also, I found it relaxing to be outside at that time of day.

What Being a Student-Athlete Has Taught You: Being a student-athlete taught me time management and to enjoy the grind. Even when times get tough, you need to push through to finish out all of your goals. This will be something that I take into all of my future goals.

What You'll Miss Most About Your Team, Curry, and Being a Student-Athlete: I will truly miss the friendships I have made over the past four years. It's crazy how you can get caught up in the life of college and not truly appreciate all of the friends that make your time so amazing.

Plans Post-Graduation and How Being a Student-Athlete Has Prepared You For Your Future Career Goals: Growing my own company, Righteous Amenities, is a large plan of mine post-graduation. Also, I'm looking to move out to Tahoe, California to pursue my passion in the outdoor industry. I want to thank Coach Murphy as he helped connect me with a great internship as a New England sales representative for O'Neill Surf Company. I cannot thank him enough for the opportunity he has given and I truly appreciate all he has done!

What Advice You Would Give to Future Colonel Student-Athletes: Be grateful. Being a student-athlete is crazy at times, but enjoy each step of the process. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to go to college and play the sport that I love.
