Players To Watch On Your Team
We have a crop of young men who haven't seen a ton of playing time in their first one or two seasons here. These guys have been relentless in putting in the necessary work outside of practices to now have an opportunity to show what they have learned. After graduating a great core of defensemen that saw quality minutes for all four years, I am probably most excited to see our defensive group that had been "waiting in the wings" as they get their chance to have an impact on game days.
On the offensive end, we return all three of our first line midfielders from last year, who each had 30 or more points. We have a few guys in mind that should complement Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.) at attack this spring as he is the lone returning starter in that group.
On special teams, we return seniors Josh Teller (Milford, Conn.) in net and Zach White (Milford, Conn.) at the face-off dot. The competition level is the highest that it's been in the past seven years. At both positions, we have a couple other guys at each spot ready to fill those roles if necessary.
Top Newcomers
We have a solid group of first-year students who will be looking to crack into the lineup this year. This fall we also benefited from three transfers who could all contribute right away in their respective areas. Across the board, fans should expect to see some new faces, or familiar faces in new positions this spring.
Expectations For Season
We added a few highly competitive games to our 2019 schedule and are hoping that it prepares us for the gauntlet that is our Commonwealth Coast Conference schedule. Every spring over the past five years or so, it seems as though our league gets more and more competitive, while also having an increasing amount of parity. As a program, our expectation this year is to continue to progress toward the best version of ourselves. We have experienced some success over the past couple of years, and our young men are hungry to continue to grow and build a culture of winning in Milton.
Who in League To Look Out For
Every game that we play will be as important as the next and will be seen as both an opportunity and a learning experience for our young men. There is not a single game that could be picked out as more important than another.
Our league is stout as it has ever been. The historical favorites are always WNE and Endicott.
Talk About Coaching Staff
This year's staff will be the most rounded that it has ever been. Peyton McKechnie will be working with our midfield and offensive personnel, alongside Sean Foley who is back in Milton for his second stint as an offensive assistant. Jack Wilson will be coordinating all film and recruiting efforts, while also working with our goalie and face-off units. Lastly, Marc Fein ('14) returns to his alma mater and will be assisting with the defensive side of the ball.
Curry opens the 2019 season on Saturday, February 23 at Norwich at 1:00 p.m.
