MILTON, Mass. – In non-conference men’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon in Milton, host Curry College remained unbeaten on the season, defeating visiting Anna Maria College, 18-10. The Colonels improved to 4-0 overall, while the AMCATS fell to 1-2.

Curry took a 5-2 edge after one quarter, getting a pair of scores from senior Sean Gallagher (Topsfield, Mass.). Juniors Andrew Navoni (Natick, Mass.) and Joseph Natale (Haverhill, Mass.), and freshman Ronald Jensen (Zionsville, Ind.) each netted a goal for the Colonels in the opening frame.

Anna Maria came storming back to open the second quarter, scoring four straight times to take a 6-5 lead. Three of those goals came off the stick of junior Chris Summers (Long Valley, N.J.). But Curry responded immediately with a five-goal outburst of its own, including two more tallies by Gallagher, to forge a 10-6 advantage at halftime.

The third quarter was dominated by the hosts, who outscored the AMCATS 6-2 in the frame. Gallagher netted his final two goals on the day, while sophomore Connor Arnold (Clifton Park, N.Y.) pick up his second and third of the contest. Anna Maria got goals from freshman Joshua Smith (Mendon, Mass.) and senior Blake Simpson (Warwick, R.I.) but trailed by eight (16-8) as time expired in the quarter.

The final frame was the lowest scoring of the day, with each team tacking on two goals to account for the 18-10 final. Gallagher finished with six goals and two assists. Summers collected half his team’s total with five goals.

Curry senior Michael Hibbard (North Chelmsford, Mass.) played the first three quarters in net, making 10 saves and allowing eight goals for his fourth win of the season.
