Men's Lacrosse Tripped Up on Senior Day by Visiting University of New England, 13-8

MILTON, Mass-– Curry College lost to the University of New England, 13-8, in men's lacrosse action on Tuesday in Milton, Mass.  The Nor’easters improve to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, while the Colonels fall to 4-9 and 1-7 in the TCCC.

Both teams tallied three goals apiece in the first quarter.  UNE took the advantage in the second quarter outscoring Curry 5-2 to go into the break with an 8-5 lead.  The Colonels were able to post three goals to the Nor’easters two in the second quarter to make it a 10-8 game, but UNE dominated the final quarter shutting out Curry and scoring three of their own to hold on to the 13-8 win.

Curry was led by senior Mike Snyder (Lee, MA) who posted a season-high six points on three goals and three assists.  Junior Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, MD) also scored three goals and chipped in for one assist for four points. Freshman Connor Arnold (Clifton Park, NY) finished off the scoring with two goals.

UNE was led by junior Dylan Thomas (Mount Pleasant, NY) who finished the day with two goals and two assists for four points.  Sophomore Tyler Thomas (Mount Pleasant, NY) led his team in goals with three.  Senior Michael Woods (Kittery Point, ME) and junior Michael Pennachio (Peabody, MA) both scored two goals and seniors Luke DiFiore (Gloucester, MA), Steve Smith (Walpole, MA), Billy Davis (North Kingstown, RI) and sophomore Chris Garber (Cheshire, CT) each had one.  

The Nor’easters outscored the Colonels, 47-30 but the Colonels held the advantage in groundballs 16-13. .

Sophomore Tim McGonagle (Concord, MA)  played in net and made 16 saves.  Junior Nike Porter (Cohasset, MA) earned the win in net making 10 stops.

The Colonels travel to Anna Maria College on, April 14 at 4:00 p.m. UNE will host Wentworth on April 16 for 3:00 p.m. game start.
