Men's Lacrosse Falls to TCCC Opponent New England College, 18-9

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College lost to New England College 18-9, in men's lacrosse action on Tuesday night in Milton, Mass.  The Pilgrims improve to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, while the Colonels fall to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in TCCC play.

New England scored 12 first half goals while the Colonels were able to put up just two.  Seven of the Pilgrims goals came in the first period alone.  NEC scored their first goal of the game at the 12:03 minute mark when senior John Gabriel (West Nyack, NY) scored one of four on the night.  Curry responded with their own on an unassisted goal by sophomore Joe Natale (Haverhill, MA).  The Pilgrims then scored six unanswered to end the period. 

New England started off the second period strong scoring four goals in the first five minutes.  Curry held them scoreless for the next seven minutes until freshman Steve Parsons (Townsend, MA) scored off an assist from senior Matt Carey (Medford, NY).  Junior Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, MD) scored the Colonels second goal with just nine seconds remaining to end the half.  The third period saw just three goals scored, all by the Pilgrims.  New England held a 15-2 advantage heading into the fourth but Curry enjoyed a strong final period outscoring the Pilgrims 7-3.

Curry was led by Natale who had five goals and two assists.  Lanham scored two goals, and senior John O’Donnell (Middleton, MA) and sophomore John Reppuci (Holbrook, MA) each chipped in one.

Both Parsons and Gabriel had six points for New England.  Parsons scored five goals and added one assist and Gabriel had four goals and two tallies.  The Pilgrims saw eight other players with scores on the night.

New England outshot the Colonels 38-26 but Curry picked up 30 ground balls to the Pilgrim’s 20.

Junior goalkeeper Nick Aquaviva (Syracuse, NY) made five stops in net for New England in 35:15 minutes allowing only two goals. Sophomore Eric Legott (Geneva, NY) finished out the game playing in 24:45 minutes.  Legott made four saves and allowed seven goals. Junior Mike Hibbard (Chelmsford, MA) suffered the loss in goal for the Colonels making nine saves in 47:59 minutes.  Sophomore Tim McGonagle (Concord, MA) played in 12:01 minutes without a save.

Curry will travel to TCCC opponent Endicott College on Saturday, April 2 for a 3:00 p.m. game.  New England hosts Husson College on Thursday, March 31 for a 6:00 p.m. game.
