Men's Lacrosse Suffers 13-4 Loss to TCCC Rival Gordon College

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College lost to Gordon College 13-4, in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon in Milton, Mass.  The Fighting Scots improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, while the Colonels fall to 3-5 overall and 0-4 in TCCC play.

Gordon scored the first four goals of the contest before Curry would get on the board.  Gordon held just a 1-0 lead after the first period, and held a 4-1 advantage heading into half-time.  Senior Dan Utz (Rochester, NY) scored three of his five goals on the day for the Scots in the first half.  Junior Kirk Dillon (Newburyport, MA) scored the only goal for the Colonels in the opening frame which came with just one minute remaining in the third period.  Junior Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, MD) scored his lone goal in the beginning of the third to cut the Scots lead to just two, but that would be as close as the Colonels would get.  Gordon went on to score nine second-half tallies and Curry was held to just three in the third and scoreless in the fourth. 

Gordon outshot the Colonels 49-14 and picked up 18 ground balls while Curry collected 11. 

Senior Mike Snyder (Lee, MA) scored two goals for the Colonels while juniors Lanham and Dillon each chipped in for one.  The Scots were led by team scoring leader Utz, who had five goals and one assist.  Senior Zac Blue (Monticello, MN) and junior Wes Chittick (Glenside, PA) each had two goals and one assist.  Junior Adam Quinn (Gloucester, MA) and freshman Jeremy Nelson (West Chester, PA) finished off the scoring for Gordon with a goal apiece. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Houston Zemanski (Annapolis, MD) earned his third win on the season making nine stops in net for Gordon.  Junior Mike Hibbard (Chelmsford, MA) suffered the loss in goal for the Colonels making 13 saves. 

Curry will host TCCC opponent New England College on Tuesday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m.  Gordon hosts Nichols College in a TCCC match-up on Tuesday, March 29 in a 4:00 p.m. game start.
